Zonia Mejia was born on August 26, 2001, in Quezon City, Philippines. She grew up in Luzon, the largest and most populous island in the country. Zonia was raised by her parents, who owned a small bakery in their neighborhood. She is the second youngest of five siblings in a family of swimmers, where she developed a love for the water at a young age.
