Zachary Arnett, born on October 9, 1986 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, was raised in a sports-loving family. He attended La Cueva High School, where he excelled both academically and athletically. Arnett was a standout player on the football team, showcasing his skills as a linebacker. He also distinguished himself as a two-sport athlete, excelling in both football and baseball.
After graduating from high school, Zachary Arnett decided to continue his education and athletic career at the University of New Mexico. He played college football for the Lobos from 2005 to 2008, where he continued to hone his skills as a linebacker. Not only was Arnett a talented athlete, but he also excelled in the classroom, earning Academic All-America honors during his time in college.
After graduating from the University of New Mexico, Zachary Arnett pursued a career in coaching. From 2011 to 2019, he held various assistant coaching positions at San Diego State University. During his time at SDSU, Arnett gained valuable experience and honed his coaching skills, preparing him for future opportunities.
In December 2022, Zachary Arnett was named interim head coach at Mississippi State University after Mike Leach fell ill and was hospitalized. Despite the challenging circumstances, Arnett rose to the occasion and led the team with confidence and determination. Tragically, Mike Leach passed away on December 15, 2022, and Arnett was appointed as the full-time head coach of Mississippi State.
Off the field, Zachary Arnett is a devoted husband to his wife, Emily, and a loving father to their two children. Despite the demands of his coaching career, Arnett prioritizes his family and values their support and encouragement.
