Yu Seki, born on February 9th, 1992 in Japan, discovered his passion for music at a young age. Raised in a family where creativity and artistry were highly valued, he was encouraged to pursue his musical interests. His mother, Miyuki Seki, a talented chef and restaurant owner, instilled in him a love for the arts.
At the age of 20, Yu Seki decided to pursue his dream of becoming a professional musician. Along with three other talented individuals, he formed the band Mrs. Vinci in 2013. The band quickly gained popularity in the local music scene, showcasing Yu's exceptional drumming skills and innovative approach to music.
In 2015, Mrs. Vinci released their debut studio album "Mad Me More Softly," which was met with critical acclaim. However, it was in 2017 that Yu Seki and his bandmates decided to rebrand themselves as King Gnu, marking a new chapter in their musical journey.
Under the new name, King Gnu signed with Ariola Japan and released their first major label studio album "Sympa" in 2019. The album was a huge success, catapulting the band to stardom in the Japanese music industry. Yu's unique drumming style combined with the band's alternative rock sound and J-Pop influences captured the hearts of fans around the world.
