Win Butler was born on April 14, 1980 in Truckee, California. From a young age, he showed a passion for music and performance. Growing up, he was influenced by his grandmother, who sang with The King Sisters and hosted her own nationally-televised variety program on ABC. This early exposure to the world of music would shape Butler's future career.

Their debut album, "Funeral," was released to critical acclaim and set the stage for a series of successful albums, including "Neon Bible," "The Suburbs," and "Reflektor."
In addition to his work with Arcade Fire, Butler has also pursued other musical projects. He contributed the song "Do They Know It's Hallowe'en?" for a UNICEF benefit album, showcasing his commitment to using his platform for social good.
Outside of his music career, Butler is known for his close relationship with Chassagne, who is not only his bandmate but also his life partner.
