Will Borgen was born on December 19, 1996, in Moorhead, Minnesota. Growing up in the Moorhead area, Borgen fell in love with hockey at a young age, dreaming of one day playing in the NHL. He honed his skills on the ice, playing for local youth teams and developing into a talented defenseman.
After graduating from high school, Borgen took his hockey career to the next level by enrolling at St. Cloud State University. During his time at St. Cloud State, Borgen established himself as a standout player, earning recognition as the NCHC's 'Best Defenseman' in 2018.
In 2015, Borgen's dreams of playing in the NHL became a reality when he was selected by the Buffalo Sabres as a fourth-round pick in the NHL draft. He made his official NHL debut during the 2018-2019 season, facing off against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Although the Sabres lost the game 4-0, Borgen's performance caught the attention of hockey fans and solidified his place in the league.
