Virginia Ann Foxx was born on June 29, 1943 in New York City, NY. She grew up in rural North Carolina and attended the University of North Carolina, where she earned her undergraduate degree. Foxx continued her education at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she obtained her doctorate.
Foxx's political career began when she was elected as a member of the North Carolina Senate. She later went on to serve as the Secretary of the House Republican Conference before being elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. In 2019, she was elected Secretary of the House Republican Conference, a position she held until 2023.
