Vaughn Martin was born on April 18, 1986, in Jamaica. He was raised by his mother in Toronto and later moved to London, Ontario. Despite facing academic challenges, Vaughn was determined to pursue a career in football.
After attending London South Collegiate Institute in Canada, Vaughn aspired to attend Michigan State University. However, due to academic transcript issues, he was unable to qualify. Vaughn then enrolled at Milford Academy, a preparatory school in New York, where he continued to hone his football skills.
Upon returning to Ontario, Vaughn played for the University of Western Ontario before being drafted in the fourth round of the 2009 NFL draft by the Los Angeles Chargers (formerly the San Diego Chargers). He made history as the first Canadian university player to be drafted by the NFL as an underclassman.
During his time in the NFL, Vaughn played under renowned coaches such as Norv Turner at San Diego and Andy Reid at Kansas City. His NFL career concluded with impressive stats, including 3 sacks and over 75 tackles.
After retiring from football, Vaughn co-founded the Fire & Flower Cannabis Co. He later transitioned to the Canadian Football League, joining the Montreal Alouettes in 2016. Two years later, he was drafted by Montreal in the CFL draft.
Throughout his career, Vaughn remained dedicated to his roots, regularly visiting Jamaica and staying connected to his family in Toronto and London, Ontario.
