Vanessa Guillén was born on September 30, 1999, in Houston, Texas. She was the daughter of Rogelio and Gloria Guillén and had five siblings. Vanessa attended Hartman Middle School and graduated from César E. Chávez High School in 2018.
Upon graduating from high school, Vanessa decided to join the United States Army in June 2018. She underwent training to become a 91F, specializing in Small Arms and Artillery Repair. Vanessa showed dedication and passion for her work, eventually achieving the rank of Specialist on July 1, 2020.
Vanessa Guillén's promising career was abruptly cut short when she was brutally murdered at Fort Hood, Texas. She became a victim of a horrific crime committed by fellow soldier Aaron David Robinson. Another soldier, Robinson's girlfriend Cecily Aguilar, was charged for her involvement in the case.
