Valeriu Munteanu was born on December 28, 1980, in Moldova. He attended Valahia University of Târgoviște, where he studied law and graduated in 2003. Munteanu continued his education by taking master’s courses at the University in Bucharest in the sociology and social assistance department.
Valeriu Munteanu began his political career by serving as the Deputy Chairman of the Liberal Party from 2010 to 2018. During his time with the party, he was known for his advocacy for environmental issues and was eventually appointed as Minister of the Environment from 2015 to 2017.
After resigning from the Liberal Party in 2018, Munteanu set his sights on leading the Save Bessarabia Union (USB). In 2019, he was elected as the leader of the USB, a position that allowed him to further his political ambitions and work towards his goals.
In March 2022, Valeriu Munteanu was elected as a vice president of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians, showcasing his continued dedication to advocating for Romanian interests and unity.
Valeriu Munteanu is known for his multilingual abilities, as he is fluent in Romanian, Russian, Spanish, and English. Additionally, he holds the distinction of being the legislator with the highest number of parliamentary initiatives in the 19th legislative session of the Moldovan Parliament from 2010 to 2014.
