Valenzia Algarin was born on June 20, 1981, in Boston, Massachusetts. She grew up in Peabody, a small town just outside of Boston. Her father, Carlos, is Puerto Rican, and her mother, Mercedes, is Dominican. From a young age, Valenzia showed a passion for performing and would often put on shows for her family in their living room.
After graduating from high school, Valenzia decided to pursue her love of acting and enrolled in the prestigious New York University Tisch School of the Arts. There, she honed her craft and performed in numerous stage productions, including one-woman shows such as The Piano Lesson, Laundry & Bourbon, Biloxi Blues, and A Hat Full of Rain.
Valenzia's big break came when she landed a minor role on the hit HBO drama True Blood. Although her part was small, it allowed her to showcase her talent and catch the attention of casting directors in Hollywood. Soon after, she was cast as Dianne in the critically acclaimed series Black Jesus, where she played a strong and independent woman navigating the ups and downs of life in the inner city.
In addition to her television work, Valenzia also starred in several TV movies, including The Rich & the Ruthless and Under Surveillance. Her performances were praised by critics and audiences alike, solidifying her reputation as a rising star in the entertainment industry.
Outside of her acting career, Valenzia is passionate about giving back to her community.
