Tyler Szalkowski was born on August 26, 1991, in East Greenbush, New York. Growing up, he had a passion for music and started playing the guitar at a young age. Inspired by bands like Blink-182 and Green Day, Tyler knew that he wanted to pursue a career in music.
In the spring of 2010, Tyler, along with lead singer Derek DiScanio, founded the pop punk band State Champs. The two musicians shared a vision for creating energetic, catchy music that resonated with audiences. Joined by guitarist Tony Diaz, bassist Ryan Graham, and drummer Evan Ambrosio, State Champs quickly gained a following in the local music scene.
State Champs released their debut EP, Overslept, in 2012, which caught the attention of Pure Noise Records. The band signed with the label in April of that year, marking a significant milestone in their career. In 2013, State Champs released their first full-length album, The Finer Things, which reached #2 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart.
Outside of his music career, Tyler enjoys spending time with his girlfriend Teagan and her son Easton. The support of his loved ones has been instrumental in his success as a musician. When he's not on tour or in the studio, Tyler likes to unwind by exploring the vibrant music scene in New York.
As the lead guitarist and backing vocalist for State Champs, Tyler continues to captivate audiences with his energetic performances and infectious melodies. He thrives on the creative process of songwriting and collaborating with his bandmates to produce new music.
