Tracie Spencer was born on December 12, 1976 in Waterloo, Iowa. From a young age, she showed a talent for singing and performing. At the age of eleven, she recorded her first album after winning a competition on Star Search with her rendition of Whitney Houston's "How Will I Know."
After winning the competition, Spencer caught the attention of Capitol Records and was offered a record deal. In 1991, she released her chart-topping hit "Tender Kisses," which catapulted her to fame in the rhythm & blues music scene. She followed up with other popular singles such as "Save Your Love," "This House," and "Love Me."
Spencer's talent as a singer and songwriter was recognized early on in her career. In the early 1990s, she became the youngest female recipient of ASCAP's songwriting award, solidifying her status as a rising star in the music industry.
Despite her success, Spencer remained grounded in her roots. She grew up in Waterloo, Iowa and later moved to Los Angeles, California where she continued to pursue her passion for music.
In addition to her musical career, Spencer also ventured into acting. She made a guest appearance on the popular ABC series Family Matters, where she performed a duet version of her hit song "Tender Kisses" with series star Darius McCrary.
