Taku Takahashi was born on March 29, 1974 in Yokohama, Japan. From a young age, he showed a great interest in music and quickly became involved in the local music scene. He attended high school with rapper Verbal, with whom he would later form the group N.M.D. in 1992.
After graduating high school, Takahashi went on to study physics and philosophy at Occidental College in 1994. However, his passion for music soon took over, leading him to drop out of college and enroll in a music school to pursue a career as a DJ.
As one third of the musical trio M-Flo, Takahashi quickly rose to fame in the Japanese music scene. The group's hit EP, The Tripod, debuted in the top ten of the Japanese singles chart, cementing their status as one of the country's premier musical acts. Their album, Expo Expo, also saw great success, debuting at number four on the charts.
