Stefano Denswil was born on July 5, 1993, in Zaandam, Netherlands. His parents are of Surinamese descent, giving him the opportunity to represent both the Netherlands and Suriname on the international soccer stage. Denswil showed early promise in the sport, starting his career with the amateur club Hellas Sport in Zaandam.
In 2001, Denswil was scouted by Ajax Youth Academy, where he honed his skills and rose through the ranks. During his time in the youth system, he contributed to Ajax winning the Nike Eredivisie league title and reaching the finals of the Next Gen Series. In the 2012-13 season, Denswil was promoted to the 1st team squad and made his senior debut in a KNVB Cup match against ONS Sneek.
After his time at Ajax, Denswil moved on to play for Club Brugge in the Belgian Pro League and Bologna FC 1909 in Italy's Serie A. During his tenure at Club Brugge, he played a key role in the team's success, winning three Belgian Pro League Championships, a Belgian Cup, and two Belgian Super Cups.
Denswil began his international career with the Netherlands in 2007, representing the country in various youth championships until 2013. In 2023, he made the decision to switch sporting nationalities and started playing for Suriname's national team.
Aside from his soccer career, Denswil is also an avid kickboxer, utilizing the martial art to enhance his footwork and prevent injuries. His dedication to both sports showcases his commitment to physical conditioning and continuous improvement.
Currently, Denswil plays as a center-back for Trabzonspor Kulübü in the Turkish Süper Lig. Among his teammates are talented players such as Ugurcan Cakir, Nicolas Pepe, and Mislav Oršić.
