Stedman Bailey was born on November 11, 1990, in Miramar, Florida. Growing up, he showed a natural talent for football and quickly made a name for himself in high school, where he excelled as a wide receiver. He caught the attention of college scouts and eventually earned a scholarship to play football at West Virginia University.
During his time at West Virginia, Bailey established himself as a standout player. In 2012, he was named a first-team All-American after setting the school's single-season records for receiving yards (1,622) and receiving touchdowns (25). He formed a formidable partnership with his teammate Tavon Austin, who would later join him in the NFL.
In the 2013 NFL Draft, Bailey was selected by the St. Louis Rams in the 3rd round. He made his NFL debut that same year and quickly made an impact on the field. Bailey's speed, agility, and exceptional catching ability made him a valuable asset to the team.
Unfortunately, Bailey's promising career was cut short when he was involved in a tragic incident in 2015. While sitting in a car with his family, he was shot twice in the head. Miraculously, he survived the attack but was left with life-threatening injuries that forced him to retire from professional football.
Despite the challenges he faced, Bailey remained resilient and focused on his recovery. He underwent multiple surgeries and extensive rehabilitation to regain his strength and mobility. Throughout his journey, he has shown incredible courage and determination, inspiring others with his positive attitude and determination to overcome adversity.
Outside of football, Bailey has become an advocate for gun violence prevention and continues to share his story to raise awareness about the impact of gun violence. He has also pursued interests in coaching and mentoring young athletes, using his experience to motivate others to pursue their dreams.
Off the field, Bailey is a devoted husband and father. He credits his family for their unwavering support during his recovery and acknowledges the importance of having a strong support system in times of hardship. Despite the challenges he has faced, Bailey remains grateful for the love and encouragement of his loved ones.
