Sam Willoughby was born on August 15, 1991, in Adelaide, Australia. Growing up, he was heavily involved in Australian rules football. However, his passion for BMX soon took over, and he began focusing on the sport at a young age.
In 2008, Willoughby made the bold move to relocate to the United States in pursuit of his BMX dreams. This decision paid off, as he quickly rose through the ranks and became a junior BMX champion, catching the attention of the international BMX community.
Willoughby's career reached new heights when he represented Australia at the 2012 Olympic Games. Known as The BMX Bandit, he earned a silver medal at the prestigious event, solidifying his status as one of the top BMX riders in the world.
In the same year, Willoughby also claimed gold medals at the 2012 and 2014 World Championships, showcasing his exceptional talent and skill on the BMX track.
