Sally Amaki, born on April 26, 2000, in Los Angeles, California, grew up in a multicultural household. Her parents, originally from Japan, had emigrated to the United States, where they met and started a family. Sally has fond memories of her time growing up in Los Angeles, where she was exposed to both American and Japanese culture. She has an older brother who she is very close to.
Despite her upbringing in the United States, Sally always felt a deep connection to her Japanese roots. In 2016, she made the bold decision to relocate to Japan by herself to pursue a career in voice acting. It was a challenging transition for Sally, as she struggled initially with the language barrier. Many of her early auditions ended in rejection due to her lack of proficiency in Japanese.
Despite the initial setbacks, Sally's passion and dedication to voice acting eventually paid off. She landed a role as a member of the voice acting idol group 22/7, where she provides the voice and motion capture for the character Sakura Fujima. Her talent and hard work have also led to opportunities in TV series such as Tomo-chan Is a Girl! and World Dai Star, as well as films like Pandora to Akubi and video games including Overwatch 2.
Aside from her work in voice acting, Sally has a diverse range of interests. Before her move to Japan, she trained in ice skating with the late Olympic figure skater Denis Ten. Her love for ice skating remains a passion of hers, serving as a source of inspiration and relaxation outside of her busy career.
