Roman Josi was born on June 1, 1990, in Bern, Switzerland. He grew up playing hockey and quickly showed promise as a young defenseman.
Josi began his professional career playing for SC Bern in Switzerland before being drafted 38th overall in the 2008 NHL Draft by the Nashville Predators. He quickly made a name for himself as a skilled and reliable defenseman, earning a spot as Shea Weber's defensive partner following Ryan Suter's departure in 2012.
