Ricardo Martinelli, a Panamanian politician and democrat, was born on November 11, 1952 in Panama City, Panama. He is known for being elected President of Panama in 2009, and for his successful career as a businessman, owning the chain of supermarkets known as Super 99.
Martinelli attended the Staunton Military Academy in Staunton, Virginia in the United States before obtaining a Bachelor's degree from the University of Arkansas in 1973. He continued his education, graduating with a master's degree in 1977.
