Prince Hamzah bin Al-Hussein was born on March 29, 1980, in Jordan, as the son of King Hussein and his fourth wife, Queen Noor. He was raised in the royal family and received a privileged education, attending prestigious schools in Jordan and abroad.
Prince Hamzah pursued a military career and graduated from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in the United Kingdom. He quickly rose through the ranks and became an officer in the Arab Legion. His dedication and leadership skills were recognized, and he was on the path to becoming the Crown Prince of Jordan.
In 1999, Prince Hamzah was officially named the Crown Prince of Jordan by his father, King Hussein. However, his status as heir to the throne was short-lived as King Hussein's death in 1999 led to a succession crisis. His half-brother, King Abdullah II, ultimately ascended to the throne and rescinded Prince Hamzah's title of Crown Prince in 2004.
Despite the challenges he faced within the royal family, Prince Hamzah continued to serve his country and was awarded a UN Peacekeeping Medal from the United Nations in 2001 for his efforts in promoting peace and stability in the region.
Prince Hamzah's personal life has also been a subject of public interest. He was previously married to Princess Noor, with whom he had a six-year marriage that ended in 2009. In 2012, he married his second wife, Princess Basma, and the couple has been actively involved in charitable work and humanitarian efforts.
Despite the succession dispute that led to the loss of his title as Crown Prince, Prince Hamzah maintains a close relationship with his half-brother, King Abdullah II. The two brothers have worked together on various initiatives and have shown a united front in upholding the interests of the Jordanian monarchy.
