Pete Crow-Armstrong was born on March 25, 2002, in California to his parents, actors Matthew John Armstrong and Ashley Crow. Growing up in a family involved in the entertainment industry, Pete was exposed to the arts from a young age. However, his passion for baseball quickly became evident, and he began honing his skills on the diamond.
During his junior year at Harvard-Westlake School in 2019, Pete's talent on the baseball field caught the attention of many. He was named the Los Angeles Times Player of the Year, solidifying his status as a top prospect in the sport. Following his high school graduation, Pete initially committed to play baseball at Vanderbilt University. However, he made the decision to forgo college and declare for the 2020 MLB draft.
Throughout his amateur career, Pete represented the USA men's baseball team on four occasions. He showcased his skills on an international stage, winning gold medals at the 2017 and 2018 COPABE Pan American Championships. These experiences further fueled his desire to succeed in professional baseball.
In the 2020 MLB draft, Pete was selected in the 1st round by the New York Mets. He quickly made a name for himself in the Minor Leagues, playing for teams such as the Myrtle Beach Pelicans and the Tennessee Smokies. In 2021, Pete was traded to the Chicago Cubs, where he would make his MLB senior career debut in September 2023.
Throughout his career, Pete has been recognized for his outstanding performance on the field. He was named Player of the Week in the Carolina League in May 2022 and earned Player of the Month honors in the Midwest League later that year. Additionally, Pete was awarded the Cubs Organization All-Star title by the National League and received a Minor League Gold Glove Award for his exceptional defensive prowess.
