Pat Roberts was born on April 20, 1936, in Topeka, Kansas. He grew up in a politically active family, with his father serving as a state politician. Roberts attended Kansas State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism in 1958. During his time at the university, he was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity.
In 1969, Roberts began his political career as an administrative assistant to Kansas's 1st District Congressman Keith Sebelius. This marked the beginning of his long and successful journey in politics.
In 1997, Roberts was elected as the United States Senator from Kansas, representing the Republican Party. Throughout his tenure, he held important positions such as the Chairman of the Senate Committees on Intelligence, Ethics, and Agriculture.
