Oh Hyuk, the talented frontman of the South Korean indie band Hyukoh, was born on May 10, 1993 in Beijing, China. He spent his formative years living in Beijing before moving back to South Korea in 2012 to pursue higher education.
Hyuk attended the Korean International School in Beijing during his childhood years. After returning to South Korea, he went on to study at Hongik University, where he honed his musical talents and developed a passion for creating music.
Hyukoh burst onto the music scene in September 2014 with the release of their debut EP, titled '20.' The band's unique sound and charismatic frontman quickly garnered attention, but it wasn't until their appearance on the popular television show 'Infinite Challenge' in 2015 that they truly rose to fame.
Hyukoh's music is a fusion of various genres, blending indie rock, folk, and blues influences to create a distinctive sound that resonates with fans around the world. Hyuk's soulful voice and introspective lyrics add depth and emotion to the band's music.
One of Hyuk's standout performances was his rendition of Lee Moon-se's "A Little Girl" for the original soundtrack of the Korean drama "Reply 1988." The touching song showcased his vocal range and emotional depth, earning him praise from fans and critics alike.
Despite his busy schedule as a musician, Hyuk values his family and roots. His upbringing in Beijing has influenced his music and worldview, shaping him into the artist he is today. In 2012, he made the decision to return to South Korea to pursue his dreams and further his education.
In July 2015, Hyukoh made a significant career move by joining the music label HIGHGRND, owned by renowned rapper and producer Tablo. This partnership opened up new opportunities for the band and allowed them to reach a wider audience with their music.
