Muse Bihi Abdi was born on February 1, 1948, in Somalia. He grew up in a modest household and displayed a keen interest in academics from a young age. He attended Amoud Secondary School and graduated in 1970.
After completing his education, Muse Bihi Abdi joined the Somali Air Force in the 1970s, where he served as a pilot during the administration of Siad Barre. His time in the military honed his leadership skills and instilled in him a sense of duty and service to his country.
Following his military career, Muse Bihi Abdi transitioned into politics. In 2010, he was appointed the chairman of the ruling Kulmiye party in the Republic of Somaliland. His dedication to public service and unwavering commitment to his people propelled him forward in the political arena.
In November 2015, Muse Bihi Abdi was selected as the party's Presidential Candidate at the 5th annual Central Committee convention. His platform centered on promoting peace, stability, and development in Somaliland. In December 2017, he was elected as the President of Somaliland, succeeding Ahmed Mohamed Mohamoud.
Outside of his political career, Muse Bihi Abdi is a devoted family man. He has two wives and seven children, consisting of three sons and four daughters. Despite his demanding schedule, he prioritizes spending quality time with his loved ones.
