Early Life

Mike Weaver was born on June 13, 1951 in Texas. He grew up in a rough neighborhood and found himself drawn to boxing as a way to defend himself. He began training at a young age and quickly showed promise in the sport.

Military Service

After graduating high school, Weaver enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1968. He served until 1971 and fought in the Vietnam War. It was during this time that he honed his boxing skills even further, training whenever he had the chance.

Boxing Career

After returning from the war, Weaver turned his focus to boxing. He quickly rose through the ranks and became the first USBA Heavyweight Champion. In March 1980, he achieved his greatest victory, defeating John Tate to win the WBA World Heavyweight title. The fight is remembered for Weaver's incredible Round 15 knockout, which came with just 45 seconds left on the clock.

Weaver went on to defend his title multiple times, solidifying his place as one of the top Heavyweight boxers of his time. In February 1986, he defeated Carl Williams via technical knockout, further cementing his legacy.

Personal Life

Outside of the ring, Weaver is a devoted father. He has two daughters and a son, who have always been his biggest supporters throughout his boxing career. Despite his success in the sport, family has always been his top priority.
