Mike Tang, born on December 5, 1982 in the United States, discovered his passion for photography at a young age. Growing up, he was always captivated by the art of capturing moments through a lens. It wasn't until 2007, while living in Venezuela, that he decided to pursue his passion professionally.
When Tang started doing photography, he was drawn to both moving and nonmoving objects. He honed his skills, learning the intricate art of composing shots that tell a story. His unique style quickly gained attention as he began to shoot women in an erotically charged manner for the site Primate Eyes.
Tang's dedication to his craft is evident in his process. He shoots up to four times in a day to maintain his workload, always striving for perfection. His favorite pieces of equipment include the Sony a7R, a medium-sized reflector, and a 28mm f2.8 Pentax lens. These tools allow him to capture the essence of his subjects in a way that is both striking and intimate.
In 2011, Tang married Cristina Pilo, and together they founded the photo company Ohrangutang. Their partnership both personally and professionally has been a driving force in Tang's success. Working alongside his wife has allowed him to explore new creative avenues and push the boundaries of his art.
From the beginning of his photography career, Tang looked to renowned photographer Steven Klein as his inspiration. Klein's bold and boundary-pushing work inspired Tang to push the limits of his own creativity. Through studying Klein's techniques and experimenting with his own style, Tang has established himself as a force to be reckoned with in the photography world.
With over 1.8 million followers on his ohraugutang Instagram account, Tang's impact on the photography community is undeniable. His ability to capture raw emotion and sensuality in his work sets him apart from his peers. As he continues to push the boundaries of his art, there is no doubt that Mike Tang's legacy will continue to grow and inspire future generations of photographers.
