Maxime Grousset, born on April 24, 1999, in Noumea, New Caledonia, was introduced to swimming at a very young age. His parents, who lived on an island, believed it was essential for him to learn how to swim early on. Maxime started swimming at the age of 5, but it wasn't until he was 8 years old that he began competitively racing. Despite initially disliking the sport, he eventually developed a passion for swimming.
Maxime Grousset joined the Circle of Caledonian Swimmers and honed his skills with them before moving to mainland France to pursue a more advanced level of training. In 2017, he made a name for himself by becoming the Junior World vice-champion of the 50m freestyle. The following year, he achieved success as part of the winning team in the 4x100m Freestyle relay at the European championships.
In 2022, Maxime Grousset emerged as a prominent figure in the world of swimming. He set a world record in the short course 4×50 meter mixed freestyle relay and won the silver medal in the 100-meter freestyle and the bronze medal in the 50-meter freestyle at the World Aquatics Championships. Additionally, he clinched the silver medal in the 100-meter freestyle at the World Short Course Championships and the 50-meter butterfly at the European Aquatics Championships.
Maxime Grousset is not just a talented swimmer but also a Game of Thrones enthusiast. He admires Caeleb Dressel, considering him his favorite swimmer and idol. Despite his early struggles and reluctance towards swimming, Maxime has proven himself to be a formidable force in the swimming world, showcasing his determination and passion for the sport.
