Matthew Ball was born on December 14, 1993, in Liverpool, England. From a young age, he showed a natural talent for dance and began taking lessons when he was just 6 years old. His passion for ballet quickly grew, and by the age of 11, he was accepted into the prestigious Royal Ballet Lower School in Richmond Park, London.
After years of dedication and hard work, Ball graduated from the Royal Ballet's Upper School in 2013. In the same year, he joined The Royal Ballet as a member of the corps de ballet. His talent and dedication did not go unnoticed, and he quickly rose through the ranks, becoming a First Artist in 2015, a Soloist in 2016, and a First Soloist in 2017. In 2018, Ball achieved his dream of becoming a Principal Dancer at The Royal Ballet.
As a Principal Dancer, Ball has had the opportunity to perform in leading roles in some of the most iconic ballets, including Swan Lake, Don Quixote, Marguerite and Armand, and The Sleeping Beauty. In addition to his performances in classical repertoire, Ball has also made a name for himself by creating roles in contemporary ballets such as The Cellist, Corybantic Games, Medusa, and Obsidian Tear.
Outside of the ballet world, Ball has also found success in modeling, choreography, and filmmaking. He is represented by StageField Entertainment and shares his modeling work on his Instagram account, where he showcases a different side of his artistry.
Matthew Ball comes from a family with a strong background in the arts. His father works in arts education, while his mother is a dance teacher. Ball is in a relationship with fellow dancer Mayara Magri, and the two have been inseparable since 2021.
In 2020, Ball had the opportunity to work with acclaimed choreographer Christopher Wheeldon in a production of the ballet "Within the Golden Hour." This collaboration further solidified Ball's reputation as one of the most talented dancers of his generation.
With his talent, dedication, and passion for the art of ballet, Matthew Ball continues to captivate audiences around the world with his performances on the prestigious stage of The Royal Ballet in London's Covent Garden Royal Opera House.
