Matt O'Connor was born on February 14, 1992, in Needham, Massachusetts. Growing up, he had a passion for hockey and began playing at a young age. His dedication to the sport would eventually lead him to pursue a career as a professional hockey player.
After playing in the United States Hockey League for two years, O'Connor received a full scholarship to play for Boston University. He played for the Terriers for three seasons, from 2012 to 2015, where he honed his skills and gained valuable experience on the ice.
In October 2015, O'Connor made his NHL debut as a goaltender for the Ottawa Senators. Despite his best efforts, the game resulted in a 3-1 loss against the Montreal Canadiens. O'Connor made 31 saves during the game, facing off against fellow rookie goalie Mike Condon.
Following his NHL debut, O'Connor continued to play during the 2015-2016 season as a member of the Senators' minor league affiliate, the Birmingham Senators. He worked tirelessly to improve his skills and prove himself as a capable goaltender in the league.
Outside of hockey, O'Connor enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He remains humble and focused on his career, always striving to be the best player he can be both on and off the ice.
