Matt Donnelly was born on January 10, 1986 in Bedford, England. Growing up, he discovered his love for music at a young age and began playing drums in his school band. He attended the same high school as Simon Delaney and Rob Damiani, who would later become his bandmates in Don Broco.
After finishing university, Donnelly, Delaney, Damiani, and Luke Rayner came together to form a band. They experimented with different names before finally settling on Don Broco. The four friends shared a passion for rock music and quickly gained popularity in the local music scene.
