Mark Richt was born on February 18, 1960 in Omaha, Nebraska. He developed a passion for football at a young age and went on to play quarterback at Boca Raton High School in Florida.
After high school, Richt attended the University of Miami on a scholarship to play football. He was a backup to future Hall of Famer Jim Kelly and helped lead the team to a national championship in 1983. Richt also served as an assistant coach at his alma mater before transitioning to coaching full-time.
In 2001, Richt was named the head football coach at the University of Georgia. During his tenure, he led the Bulldogs to great success, including winning his first SEC championship in 2002. Richt was recognized as the SEC Coach of the Year in 2002 and 2005.
After leaving Georgia in 2015, Richt took on the role of head coach at the University of Miami. He has continued to make a positive impact on the Hurricanes program, showcasing his leadership and coaching abilities.
