Mark Felt was born on August 17, 1913, in Idaho. He attended the University of Idaho, where he met his future wife, Audrey Robinson. After graduating, Felt went on to earn his law degree from George Washington University in 1940. He briefly worked for the Federal Trade Commission before pursuing a career in law enforcement.
Felt's career in law enforcement began when he applied for a position with the FBI. He quickly rose through the ranks, eventually becoming the FBI Associate Director from 1972 to 1973. It was during this time that Felt became known as the infamous Deep Throat whistle blower during the Watergate scandal.
During the Watergate scandal, Felt denied any involvement in leaking information to the press about President Richard Nixon's illicit activities. However, in May of 2005, he finally admitted to being Deep Throat, the mysterious informant who provided journalists Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein with the information they needed to expose the scandal.
Mark Felt's personal life was just as interesting as his professional one. He and his wife Audrey had two children together. Felt's dedication to his family and his career as a law enforcement officer was evident in everything he did.
Mark Felt will always be remembered as the man who helped bring down a corrupt administration. His decision to come forward as Deep Throat was a brave one, and it forever changed the course of history. Felt's legacy as a whistle blower and his commitment to justice will never be forgotten.
