Manjit Minhas was born on May 31, 1980, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. She grew up in a family deeply involved in the alcohol industry, as her parents owned a chain of liquor stores. From a young age, Manjit showed an interest in entrepreneurship and business, which would eventually lead her to great success in the industry.
While studying engineering at the University of Calgary, Manjit and her brother Ravinder began working in the alcohol industry in 1999. They started by importing private label spirits to their family's liquor stores, laying the foundation for their future ventures. This experience sparked their passion for brewing and distilling, leading them to found the Minhas Craft Brewery and Minhas Distillery in Monroe, Wisconsin, as well as The Minhas Brewery in Calgary, Alberta.
Manjit's big break came when she made her television debut on the tenth season of the Canadian series Dragons' Den. Her sharp business acumen and entrepreneurial spirit impressed both the judges and the audience, propelling her to fame as a reality star. She continued to expand her business empire, eventually becoming the co-founder and CEO of Minhas Breweries & Distillery.
