Leopoldo O'Donnell was born on December 12, 1809, in Santa Cruz, Spain. He spent his early years in the Canary Islands, where he was raised in a family with a long history of military service. In 1854, he was appointed Prime Minister and also served as the War Minister of the Espartero government.

He was also named the 103rd Grand Cross of the Order of the Tower and Sword, a testament to his service and dedication to his country.
