Laurel Stucky was born on November 4, 1985, in Michigan. Growing up, she was an only child but had a large extended family with 19 cousins. Despite being the only child, family was always important to Laurel, and she maintained close relationships with her cousins.
After graduating from high school, Laurel attended Michigan State University as a Pre-Veterinary student. However, she changed her major and graduated with a degree in Spanish Philology. Laurel is fluent in Spanish and even leads an outdoor education program for high school seniors called Man in Nature.
Laurel first gained national recognition as the winner of the 25th season of MTV's long-running reality game show, The Real World/Road Rules Challenge. She set a record for participating in the most challenges without ever being eliminated. Throughout the show's history, Laurel has won one championship and finished as a runner-up three times.
