Growing up, she was exposed to the Deaf community as her mother was deaf, and several other family members also had hearing issues. Justina always had a passion for language and communication, and she quickly picked up American Sign Language (ASL) at a young age. Justina excelled in academics and graduated as valedictorian from the Model Secondary School for the Deaf in Washington, DC. After high school, she pursued a degree in nursing at Bowie State University in Maryland. In addition to her studies, Justina was also a cheerleader at the university, showcasing her lively and charismatic personality. It was during her time at Bowie State that Justina began to gain recognition for her ASL interpretation skills.
Justina's talent for ASL interpretation caught the attention of event organizers, and she was invited to perform at various concerts and events across the United States. However, her big break came when she was chosen as the ASL interpreter for the Super Bowl LVII half-time performance. Justina made history as the first Deaf woman to perform American Sign Language at the Super Bowl pre-game and halftime shows.
