Justin Gilbert was born on July 11, 1991, in The Woodlands, Texas. He attended Huntsville High School in Texas, where he excelled in both football and track. Gilbert played as a defensive back and quarterback for his high school football team, showcasing his versatility and athleticism on the field.
After high school, Gilbert went on to play college football at Oklahoma State University. In his senior year, he was a Consensus All-American and won the College Football Performance Award as the top defensive back in the country. Gilbert's standout performances on the field caught the attention of NFL scouts, leading to his selection as the eighth overall pick by the Cleveland Browns in the 2014 NFL Draft.
