Josh Bredl, known by his ring name Bronson Matthews, was born on January 28, 1991, in Colorado. He grew up with a love for sports, particularly football, and began playing at a young age. Bredl attended Colorado State University - Pueblo, where he pursued a degree in exercise science. During his time at the university, he also played collegiate football for the ThunderWolves, showcasing his athletic talent and dedication to the sport.
After earning his degree, Bredl received a try-out with the Denver Broncos in April 2015, demonstrating his skills on the football field. However, his journey took a different turn when he decided to pursue a career in professional wrestling. In 2015, he achieved success by winning the reality competition series WWE Tough Enough's 6th season, where he competed against other aspiring wrestlers to earn a contract with the WWE.
Following his victory on WWE Tough Enough, Bredl signed a 1-year contract with the WWE and adopted the ring name Bronson Matthews. He made his debut on the NXT brand on December 3, 2015, marking the beginning of his journey in the world of professional wrestling.
