Jose Cuas was born on June 28, 1994 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He grew up in Brooklyn, New York where he lived with his family. Cuas attended Grand Street Campus High School in Brooklyn, where he excelled both academically and athletically.
Despite being drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 40th round of the 2012 MLB Draft straight out of high school, Cuas made the decision to pursue a college education. He went on to attend the University of Maryland from 2012 to 2015, where he played college baseball for the Terrapins.
In 2015, Cuas was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 11th round of the MLB Draft. He began his professional baseball career in the minor league farm system, pitching for both the Arizona Diamondbacks and Kansas City Royals organizations. Cuas' talent and dedication to the sport quickly caught the attention of scouts and fans alike.
