Walton attended Miami University, where he earned his undergraduate degree before embarking on his journey in the world of sports media.
In 1996, Walton began his career in sports announcing as the public address announcer for the Cincinnati Reds. His talent and passion for broadcasting soon caught the attention of the AHL's Cincinnati Mighty Ducks, where he became the team's first play-by-play voice from 1997 to 2000. This experience laid the foundation for his future success in the industry.
Walton's big break came in 2013 when he was appointed as the radio play-by-play voice of the Washington Capitals.
