John Cabrera was born on August 26, 1975 in Miami, Florida. Growing up in the vibrant city of Miami, he developed a love for the arts at a young age. He was drawn to acting and storytelling, and knew from an early age that he wanted to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.
After graduating from high school, Cabrera decided to further his education and hone his craft. He enrolled in the theater program at DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois, where he immersed himself in the world of acting and theater. It was during his time at DePaul that Cabrera discovered his passion for performing and storytelling, and he knew that he had found his calling.
After completing his studies at DePaul University, Cabrera co-founded a Chicago theater ensemble called Collaboraction. The ensemble focused on creating innovative and socially relevant theater productions, and Cabrera's work with Collaboraction helped him gain valuable experience and artistic training.
During this time, Cabrera also began to explore opportunities in the film and television industry. He landed his first major television role as Brian Fuller in the popular WB series The Gilmore Girls. His portrayal of Brian Fuller garnered critical acclaim and helped launch his career as a television actor.
