In 2008, after the dissolution of a pair of other local bands, Joel Tyrrell and his bandmates came together to form Hands Like Houses. The band quickly gained traction in the Australian music scene and developed a loyal following. With Joel on bass and vocals, their unique sound began to attract attention.
After signing with Rise Records, Hands Like Houses released their debut album, Ground Dweller, in 2012. The album quickly rose to #2 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart, catapulting the band to fame.
