Joel Nathaniel Campbell Samuels was born on June 26, 1992 in San Jose, Costa Rica. Growing up in a soccer-loving family, it was no surprise that Joel developed a passion for the sport at a young age. He honed his skills on the streets of San Jose before joining the youth academy of Deportivo Saprissa, one of the most successful clubs in Costa Rica.
