João Amoêdo was born on October 22, 1962, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Growing up in a middle-class family, Amoêdo learned the value of hard work and determination from a young age. He attended the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, where he earned his first degree in engineering. He then pursued further education at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, obtaining a second degree in economics.
After completing his education, João Amoêdo began his career as an engineer and administrator. He worked in various capacities in the business sector, gaining valuable experience in different industries. However, it was his passion for public service that eventually led him to enter politics.
In 2009, João Amoêdo became frustrated with the lack of public services provided by the government despite the high taxes paid by citizens. This motivated him to take action and make a difference in his country. Along with 181 like-minded individuals, he co-founded the New Party, also known as NOVO, on February 12, 2011.
João Amoêdo quickly rose through the ranks of the New Party and became its president between 2015 and 2017. During his tenure, he implemented several reforms to promote transparency, accountability, and efficiency within the party. His leadership style and strategic vision attracted a new generation of politicians who shared his commitment to serving the people of Brazil.
Apart from his political endeavors, João Amoêdo is an avid sports enthusiast. He has competed in over six Ironman competitions and ten marathons, demonstrating his dedication to physical fitness and mental endurance. João Amoêdo married Rosa Helena Nasser in 1987, and together they have three daughters.
