JinJoo Lee was born on November 15, 1987, in Incheon, South Korea. She showed a talent and passion for music at a young age, picking up the guitar and quickly excelling in her skills. Growing up in South Korea, she was surrounded by a rich musical culture that influenced her love for playing the guitar.
After completing her high school education, JinJoo made the bold decision to move to the United States to pursue her dreams of becoming a professional musician. She enrolled at the prestigious Georgia Institute of Technology, where she studied electrical engineering and earned a Bachelor of Science/Master of Science degree.
During her time at Georgia Tech, JinJoo also attended the Guitar Program, honing her craft and developing her unique style as a guitarist. It was during this time that she caught the attention of singer Jordin Sparks, who asked her to join her band as the lead guitarist in 2009.
In 2015, JinJoo Lee's life changed when she joined the band DNCE as their guitarist. The band quickly gained attention with their debut EP SWAAY, which peaked at #79 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. Their infectious debut single, "Cake by the Ocean," became a hit and solidified their place in the music industry.
