Jim Kiick was born on September 8, 1946, in New Jersey. He grew up in a football-loving family, with his father George having played as a running back for the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 1940s. Kiick attended Boonton High School, where he excelled not only in football but also in baseball and basketball. He was known as an All-Morris County defensive back during his high school years.
After high school, Kiick went on to play college football at the University of Wyoming. It was there that he showcased his talent as a running back, catching the attention of professional teams. In the 1968 NFL Draft, Kiick was selected by the Miami Dolphins in the fifth round.
During his time with the Dolphins, Kiick became a key player in the team's success. He was part of the legendary 1972 Miami Dolphins team that went undefeated, culminating in a Super Bowl victory. Kiick made back-to-back Pro Bowl appearances and won Super Bowls VII and VIII with the Dolphins.
After retiring from football, Kiick pursued a career as a private investigator for the Broward County Public Defenders Office. This shift in career paths showcased his diverse skill set and commitment to helping others.
