Jerry Sands was born on September 28, 1987 in Clayton, North Carolina. He attended Smithfield-Selma High School, where he excelled in baseball. After graduating, Sands went on to play college baseball at Catawba College.
In 2011, Jerry Sands made his Major League Baseball debut with the Los Angeles Dodgers. He primarily played outfield and first base, hitting .253 in 198 at-bats. Sands' time with the Dodgers also saw him as a teammate of first baseman James Loney.
