Jerome Taito, also known as Big Rome, was born on September 3, 1983 in Inglewood, California. Growing up in Orange County, he was surrounded by music from an early age. His parents, who hailed from the South Pacific, instilled in him a love for his cultural heritage and the music of their homeland.
Upon graduating high school, Taito furthered his education by studying anthropology at the University of California Irvine. It was during this time that he discovered his passion for drumming and began honing his skills as a percussionist.
After completing his studies, Taito joined forces with his childhood friends to form the island reggae band, the Common Kings. The band quickly gained popularity for their unique sound that blended reggae, R&B, and pop influences. Despite remaining unsigned, their independently produced tracks garnered millions of views on platforms like YouTube.
As the drummer of the Common Kings, Taito's infectious energy and rhythm helped propel the band to new heights. They have shared the stage with renowned artists such as Fergie and Brian McKnight, solidifying their status as rising stars in the music industry.
Outside of his music career, Taito is a family man with six siblings – three brothers and three sisters. He credits his tight-knit family for providing the love and support that have fueled his success in both his personal and professional life.
