Jay Heaps was born on February 8, 1976 in New Hampshire. Growing up, he developed a passion for both soccer and basketball. He went on to attend Duke University, where he excelled in both sports.
Heaps began his professional soccer career in Major League Soccer (MLS) with the Miami Fusion. He then went on to play for the New England Revolution, where he would spend the majority of his eleven-year MLS career. He was known for his tenacity on the field and his leadership qualities, which earned him the respect of his teammates and fans alike.
During his time with the Revolution, Heaps achieved great success. In 2007, he helped lead the team to victory in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. The following year, in 2008, he was instrumental in securing the North American SuperLiga title for the Revolution.
After retiring from professional soccer, Heaps transitioned into coaching. In 2011, he was named the manager of the New England Revolution.
