James Abner Locke, born on December 2, 1997, in Beaumont, Texas, had football in his blood from a young age. Growing up in Beaumont, he lived with his family and quickly developed a passion for the sport. In high school, Locke excelled on the football field, earning a reputation as one of the top-ten cornerback recruits in the state of Texas.
After completing high school, Locke went on to play college football at the University of Texas. During his time at Texas, he showcased his skills and dedication to the sport. In his senior season, Locke and his team faced off against the University of Oklahoma in the 2018 Big 12 Championship Game. Though they came up short in the game, Locke's performance caught the attention of NFL scouts.
In 2019, Locke's hard work paid off when he was signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers as an undrafted free agent. However, his time with the Steelers was short-lived, as he was waived by the team. Despite this setback, Locke didn't lose hope and continued to pursue his dream of playing in the NFL.
Later that year, Locke was given a second chance when he signed with the Denver Broncos in December 2019. Joining the Broncos provided Locke with a fresh start and an opportunity to prove himself on the NFL stage.
Locke made his official NFL debut during week one of the 2020 regular season, playing against the Tennessee Titans. Throughout his rookie season, Locke played in fifteen games and recorded two tackles. While he may not have filled up the stat sheet, Locke made his impact felt on the field as a core special teams player for the Broncos.
As Locke continued to grow and develop in the NFL, he found himself playing alongside Bradley Chubb on the Broncos defense during the 2021 season. The experience of playing with established veterans like Chubb helped Locke further sharpen his skills and improve his game.
Off the field, Locke remains grounded and grateful for the opportunities he has been given. His upbringing in Beaumont instilled in him a strong work ethic and a determination to succeed. Locke's family has always been a source of support and motivation for him, cheering him on every step of the way.
With each game he plays, James Abner Locke continues to prove that hard work, dedication, and perseverance can lead to success. As he navigates his NFL career, there's no telling how far he can go. One thing is for sure – Locke is a name to watch out for in the world of football.
